Features Flappers, Jazz, Art and High Spirits

Dalet Gallery & Noel Zayas Events salutes the 1920s with a lavish Prohibition-era social event at the Arts Ballroom, located at 1324 Locust Street, on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Avenue of the Arts, Inc., (AAI), supporting the growth and development of the Avenue of the Arts.

The Arts Ballroom is located in the Arts Condominium, which is the former site of the Hotel Sylvania, which, during Prohibition was a haunt for City Planners Philadelphia wise-guys alike. Today, the Arts Ballroom is Philadelphia’s premiere special events venue located adjacent to the Avenue of the Arts. Stepping into the ballroom, guests are transported into an elegant space with Tiffany blue walls and Swavorski crystals adorning the grand chandeliers.

Jessie Holeva, a local fashion expert and media personality, will host ROARING! A 1920s Event. The entertainment for the evening will include performances by celebrated cabaret singers Karen Gross and Anne Ellithorpe accompanied by New York City Cabaret Icon Rick Jensen playing on a Cunningham piano; and a 1920s inspired fashion show by designer Priscilla Costa and Les Richards.

Entertainment will also include performances by the Uptown All Stars Jazz Band, songstress Maci Miller, WB and CBS 3 on-air personality Kharisma McIlwaine as well as Josephine Baker Tribute dance performance by the University of the Arts. Rounding out the evening will be world music by the Kimmel Center's Summer Solstice Event DJ Rahsaan (AfroTaino Productions)

Attire: Fashionable. (Roaring 1920s costumes are not required for this event)
